Londen's zevenkoppige chicha cumbia band Los Chinches bulkt van de onweerstaanbare jungle grooves en zonovergoten psychedelische vibes. Chicha (of Cumbias Amazonicas) is de (surf) gitaar geörienteerde psychedelische cumbia variant die omstreeks de jaren '60 ontstond in Peru. Kenmerkend zijn de invloeden van melodieën uit de Andes, Cubaanse guajiras en het gebruik van farfisa orgels en moog synths. Los Chinches zijn bijna geheel gemodelleerd naar pioniers als Los Destellos en Los Mirlos maar verliezen hierdoor geen punten want de kans dat je ooit één van de overgebleven originelen te zien krijgt hier in Europa is vrijwel nihil.

Voor en na het concert van Los Chinches slaan de dj's CAL JADER (Movimientos), DJ LEBLANC (Brussels Up!) en SAXIXA u graag liefdevol om de oren met diverse varianten van cumbia zoals Mexicaanse cumbia sonidera, Peruviaanse chicha, Argentijnse cumbia digital en Colombiaanse plantage- en balzaalklassiekers.

Los Chinches are London's number one exponents of chicha, which is the Amazonian, psychedelic, guitar oriented form of Cumbia music.

The band present their exquisite jungle grooves and psychedelic vibes direct from London Town. Los Chinches brought together a diverse and dynamic mix of musicians who had all caught the Chicha bug. Taking influence from the raw, gritty sound of the early Peruvian pioneers and adding their own eclectic touch the band is creating a new sound. Los Chinches interpretation of Chicha music is very much their own, with backgrounds in many musical styles from rock n' roll to jazz to Latin, fusing London's punk attitude and spirit with timeless Amazonian vibes. Their sound and live performance is a psychedelic burst of energy driven by a fierce frontline of percussion.
