UK / INDIA / CANADA / SERBIA / INDONESIA: TRANSNATIONAL BASS!

Het in Tilburg opgerichte Generationbass.com is 's werelds meest bekende blog voor niet-westerse dance gerelateerde muziek. Samen met de ontwikkelingsorganisatie Hivos organiseren zij voor het tweede jaar het grensoverschrijdende 'Global Mashups' project. Producers, artiesten en vocalisten uit o.a. Indonesië, India en Servië worden samengebracht met veelbelovende nieuwe artiesten uit moderne genres als dubstep, skweee, moombahton en tropical house, om tijdens de Incubate festival week in Tilburg kennis op het gebied van o.a. muziekproduktie en compositie uit te wisselen. De resulterende unieke Live sets zullen deze avond ook eenmalig in WORM ten gehore gebracht worden.

Tevens werkt WORM in het kader van 24 uur cultuur samen met drie jonge gastprogrammeurs, die speciaal geselecteerd zijn om iets voor jongeren te organiseren. Zij hebben voor jou neer weten te zetten: Das Ding, soundsystems Dstruct en Double Cross, Michiel Klein, Floris Vanhoof, Dolphins into the Future, DJ Hoekboud, Mark van de Maat (dj-set) en Meneer Jansen.

Michiel Klein

Michiel Klein (Eklin/Mike Koldin) werkt solo met feedback van microfoons, cassettedecks en tapeloops. Hij creëert hiermee repetitieve, onaardse klanklandschappen die zowel agressief als atmosferisch uit kunnen pakken. Het is altijd spannend, want geen enkel optreden is hetzelfde!


GANG COLOURS (uk) & MAHESH VINAYAKRAM (in)

Gang Colours turns drum patterns into magic. Breeding surreal headphone-friendly landscapes, he fills them with unexpected sounds that would otherwise seem out of place. Think Mount Kimbie with a playful sense of humour, Burial on a soft, sunny dancefloor, Gold Panda with an R&B lean.

An award-winning Indian vocalist in the field of carnatic and world music. Coming from a long (family) tradition of spirituality and music, Vinayakram is not afraid to explore the boundaries within. A world class vocalist from a genre you’d probably not encounter often hereabout.


KELPE (uk) & SHREYAS DAVE (in)

Kel McKeown aka Kelpe takes cues from the bleeps & bass of classic Warp artists to the funk of Sly Stone and the minimalism of Steve Reich and Harmonia to the percussive space-scapes of Tortoise + Do Make Say Think. A wide eyed carnival of fractured hip hop beats and warped electronics.

Shreyas Dave is a professional Indian flute / bamboo artist and teacher with “Flute is my temple, music is my worship” as Leitmotif. Discover how versatile a flute can be as he collaborates with producer Kelpe for Global Mashups.


NEKI STRANAC (cs) & MC BELLAL (id)

Neki Stranac is one half of Shazalakazoo, a band from Belgrade (Serbia) that plays danceable electronic bass music spiced with sounds originating from the Balkans. As a solo artist he will provide us with the Serbian take on Moombahton.

Mc Bellal is a veteran of the Indonesian hip hop scene, as part of the A.P.A. crew, several guest appearances and as main MC in Jalan Surabaya. He often freestyles, sometimes even the whole set.


D’EON (ca) & RUNA RIZVI (in)

Together with fellow-Montréal habitant Grimes with whom he created a split mini-album entitled 'Darkbloom', d’Eon is the new internet sensation. d'Eon's sound is best described as a combination of dreampop meets 90’s r’n’b, meets esoteric synthpop.

Runa Rivzi is a female sufi singer who's life revolves around music since her childhood. Inspired by great poets of the Indian and Pakistani culture, Runa's vibrant voice speaks to the youth culture in India. Rivzi can be heard in many Bollywood movie songs and her highly devotional solo work.


Dolphins Into The Future

Tussen al het geweld op straat, kan je bij Lieven terecht voor een oase van rust. Hij neemt je mee in zijn eigen natuurrijke wereld in een nieuwe vorm van een Symbolisch Landschap.

Draaien doe ik vooral omdat ik het fijn vind, heerlijk om de verschillende muziek zo achter elkaar te horen. Met muziek inspelen op de sfeer van een ruimte en er op door borduren is spannend en geweldig om te doen. Het is een uitdaging om de muziek over te brengen naar het publiek. Wanneer je een plaat op een goed moment draait weet men hem eerder te waarderen. Zo kun je muziek laten horen waar men thuis niet snel zelf naar luistert.


Floris Vanhoof

Als filmmaker en muzikant weigert hij zich te concentreren op een eenduidige output, en is zijn muziek daarom slechts onderdeel van een breder, bonter geheel. Zijn muziek krijgt meestal de stempel elektronica mee, vanwege de borrelende synthesizers en donkere industriële effecten.


Dstruct + Double Cross

Soundsystems Dstruct en Double Cross draaien een flink potje breakcore, hardcore, techno, tekno, hiphop en breakbeats in alle vormen en maten.


Das Ding

Danny Bosten en Johan de Koeyer vormen samen Das Ding. Begonnen in begin jaren '80 en nu weer helemaal terug. Je gaat dansen en gek op krachtige donkere elektro. Woehoe!
